The Las Vegas betting gurus know what they're doing when they set college football betting lines, but there's still a handful of fantastic plays for smart gamblers to exploit every week. Here are five of those for the upcoming Week 10 slate.
#2 LSU Tigers @ #4 Alabama Crimson Tide
Line: Alabama by 7
Even though LSU is undefeated and #2 in the nation, they are still seven point underdogs this weekend. It makes sense that Alabama is favored, as they are at home and have a strong run defense that could shut down Leonard Fournette. However, a full touchdown is a large spread and this game could come down to the wire. Even if LSU can't win, expect them to at least cover the spread.
#16 Florida State Seminoles @ #1 Clemson Tigers
Line: Clemson by 10
Another game with a large spread features ranked teams Clemson and Florida State. With Dalvin Cook healthy, FSU has a chance in this one. I don't expect them to win, but I do think it'll be a very close game.
Kentucky Wildcats @ Georgia Bulldogs
Line: Georgia by 14
It's been a crazy past week for Georgia, with rumblings of coordinator changes and questions about Mark Richt's future as head coach. Those are all distractions, and 4-4 Kentucky is better than many realize. A 14-point spread is far too high for a UGA that is 1-3 in its last four games. UK will cover the spread, and I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Georgia.
#14 Oklahoma State Cowboys @ #8 TCU Horned Frogs
Line: TCU by 5
It's a lower line than many would guess, because Oklahoma State is at home and TCU is banged up on defense. This will be a high-scoring affair, as both offenses can score in bunches. TCU has survived several scares in the past few weeks and don't be surprised if they are finally upset.
#12 Utah Utes @ Washington Huskies
Line: Washington by 1.5
That's not a typo; unranked Washington is favored by 1.5 points over Utah this weekend. This seems similar to Utah's loss to USC earlier this season. However, I expect Utah to avoid the loss this weekend. This is a dangerous game to bet, as Vegas is daring us to pick Utah. Still, I think the Utes will defeat Washington in a "Vegas-upset."
