The NFL adopted the "Rooney Rule" in 2002, requiring all teams to interview at least one minority candidate for head coaching and senior operations jobs, but they're the only league to do so.
First Take's Stephen A. Smith wants the NBA to follow suit.
While discussing the San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Sean Marks emerging as the favorite to get the Brooklyn Nets general manager job, Smith talked about the need for more African-Americans to be included in these job hunts.
Marks spent over a decade in the NBA and retired in 2011, joining the Spurs as their director of basketball operations and general manager for their D-League team, the Austin Toros in 2012. He then served as an assistant coach for the Spurs during the 2013-14 season before being promoted to assistant general manager last season.
