In order to take the next step, Jacksonville needs their franchise cornerstone to improve.
Blake Bortles has been a polarizing player since coming into the league in 2014. He wasn’t the unanimous No. 1 quarterback in his draft class – in fact, many scouts seemed more interested in his former girlfriend than whether he could be the cornerstone of their franchise. The Jacksonville Jaguars believed in him, selecting the 6-foot-5-inch Central Florida standout third overall. He was the prospect Jacksonville wanted all along, and ownership has remained committed to him long-term.
Like most rookie signal-callers, Bortles struggled in his first season, leading the Jaguars to an abysmal 3-13 record.
