The Houston Rockets are going to file an official protest regarding James Harden's dunk that wasn't counted in Tuesday's 135-133 loss to the San Antonio Spurs within the 48-hour deadline, sources told ESPN.
Houston had been optimistic in the wake of the loss that the NBA office would take action without a protest being necessary. However, sources said the Rockets will file a protest to ensure that the NBA office will have to make a ruling on its ongoing investigation.
The protest is based on the misapplication of the rules regarding that a made basket is worth two points and the score was not recorded correctly, sources said.
