Sources: McLemore deal unlikely by deadline

The Sacramento Kings are unlikely to reach a rookie-scale extension with guard Ben McLemore by the Oct. 31 deadline, league sources informed ESPN.

This result would allow for the fourth-year guard to enter restricted free agency following the 2016-17 campaign.

McLemore, 23, hasn't been in the ideal professional setting since the Kings drafted him with the seventh pick in the 2013 NBA draft. The Kings organization has been embedded in dysfunction from ownership, to abrupt coaching changes, and that revolving door has created a tumultuous locker room atmosphere.

It is believed throughout NBA circles that McLemore's best playing days would be elicited while in a different uniform.
