The Grit ‘n’ Grind era will end, but the Grizzlies’ expectations remain
A Year Lost
A meteor could hit the Grizzlies’ practice facility and they still wouldn’t have as many injuries as afflicted them last season. The excellent Mike Conley played just 56 games, two-time All-Star Marc Gasol managed just 52 appearances, and neither Zach Randolph nor Tony Allen hit 70. Even the role players who stepped in got injured. The team’s health woes were so catastrophic that former coach Dave Joerger started Jordan Freaking Farmar in the playoffs.
