While a lot of the league has been trying to imitate the Golden State Warriors, playing smaller and faster, the San Antonio Spurs have gone back to their roots.
The Warriors are really just an evolution of how the Spurs have played over the last several seasons. Spread the floor for pick-and-rolls, get the ball moving, and make plays from all five positions. Boris Diaw is the French Draymond Green.
But while other teams were trying to match what the Warriors have done, the Spurs have tried to counter it. They got bigger (but still more skilled) with the addition of LaMarcus Aldridge last summer and they've kept playing at a relatively slow pace.
