Every year the NBA All-Star Game (ASG), while entertaining, barely resembles professional basketball. It is less an NBA game and more a free-for-all scrimmage where the players takes turns running down the court and dunking.
Don’t get me wrong, I almost always enjoy watching the ASG; it is the perfect chance for great players to show off their awe-inspiring talents in front of millions of fans.
But recently, the league has added rules that limit the money a player can make if they don’t make an All-Star roster. Therefore, while the game itself is still all just for fun, we should actually take the time to make sure the right players end up in New Orleans next month.
