The New York Knicks have moved away from the Triangle offense coaching tree, hiring ex-Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek in a shocking move.
Phil Jackson has officially shocked the sports world yet again, mysteriously retreating to the Midwest during the height of this year’s installment of the NBA coaching carousel, before selecting Jeff Hornacek in a move that literally not one expert or reporter predicted.
On the surface, the move isn’t totally stunning: Jeff Hornacek is a well-respected guy. He carved out a 14-year NBA career in Utah and Phoenix as a cerebral, sweet-shooting guard. And in his inaugural season in Phoenix, he finished second in Coach of the Year voting, after leading a makeshift Suns team to a surprising 48-34 record and NBA darling status.
