During his postgame press conference following his team’s 29-point drubbing of the Portland Trail Blazers last Wednesday, Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr seemed his normal self. He answered questions politely, facetiously took credit for Patrick McCaw’s success, and attributed deserved praise to both the rookie and his teammates.
Everything was going according to plan for a team expected to coast through the early rounds of the playoffs, until it wasn’t.
Early Saturday morning, the Warriors announced that Kerr would miss Game 3 due to an undisclosed illness. Later that day, Marcus Thompson reported that Kerr was in such pain that at times during the day he struggled to walk, let alone coach.
