Jason Kidd has signed a multi-year contract extension with the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced Monday.
The deal comes just days after ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported that Kidd's name was mentioned as a potential candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers' head coach job, which came open after the team fired Darvin Ham.
Kidd, 51, is coming off his third season as head coach of the Mavericks -- a season in which he led the team to the Southwest Division title.
