I, like many other NBA fans, cringed when the Orlando Magic signed Bismack Biyombo. Biyombo’s not a horrible player; don’t get me wrong. But the thought of a frontcourt trio consisting of Biyombo, Nikola Vucevic, and Serge Ibaka did very little for my excitement levels.
Thinking of poor Aaron Gordon, isolated on the perimeter with very little demonstrated shooting ability (and even less ball-handling ability) didn’t make the scenario seem any better. Thoughts of Frank Vogel pronouncing Gordon as the next Paul George really drove the nail in the coffin for me — this experiment had nowhere to go but south.
