New York (AFP) - NBA and Basketball Australia officials announced Wednesday that the league will launch the NBA Global Academy elite training center at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
The academy, the NBA's global hub for top prospects from around the world, will be the league's fourth after recent launches in Hangzhou, Jinan and Urumqi, China.
The first global prospects will begin enrolling at NBA Global Academy in the next few weeks.
"NBA Global Academy will allow top prospects from around the world to train with and compete against their peers in a structured environment under the supervision of NBA-trained coaches and in collaboration with Basketball Australia's internationally recognized coaches," NBA vice president for international basketball operations Brooks Meek said.
