This past offseason, we witnessed absurd amounts of money being thrown at free agents. The NBA salary cap jumped from $70 million in the 2015-16 season to over $94 million this year. This gave teams much more money to work with during free agency, and we saw the results with players such as Mike Conley.
At 29 years-old, Mike Conley has not made an All-Star team, and yet, he has the greatest amount of guaranteed money in the NBA. In fact, Conley is not even an outlier, as many other players also received undeserved compensation.
As we approach the end of 2016, I believe it is fair to judge these recent signees on their value.
