Mob mentality is hardwired into mankind. We flock towards a common belief. We don’t want to miss out on what everyone else is doing (FOMO before FOMO was a thing). When Moneyball was actually taking place in Major League Baseball (MLB), teams jumped up on this and began offering $12.5 million contracts to analytically minded management. Even in the National Basketball Association (NBA) teams have begun to buy into the analytics in their front offices. With so many statistics becoming commonplace, it is possible that management is getting overeager for analytically efficient players or management may be undervaluing what the analytics are saying.
