The Brooklyn Nets will be without at least five players when the NBA season returns to Orlando, Florida at the end of July. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were not expected to play, but it is now official that both will not travel. Wilson Chandler is sitting out to keep his family safe and healthy during the pandemic. DeAndre Jordan tested positive for the virus as well and has opted out of returning to play. Finally, Nicolas Claxton, a rookie out of Georgia will not play as he had shoulder surgery during the NBA’s hiatus. The Brooklyn Nets signed Tyler Johnson and Justin Anderson to replace the missing players as well.

The Cleveland Cavaliers made two moves this past week by signing to young forwards to multi-year contracts. Dean Wade, a rookie out of Kansas State, had his two-way contract converted to a full contract after an outstanding year with the Canton Charge. Jordan Bell, who has had a down career after his rookie season with the Golden State Warriors, is getting another chance with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bell plays with high energy and is a little undersized for a forward, but he is still young and could revive his career with the Cavaliers.
The Memphis Grizzlies are one of multiple Western Conference teams fighting for the eighth and final seed. They have decided to bring Jontay Porter with him to the bubble. Porter has been nursing two knee injuries since 2018. He last played for the Missouri Tigers in college. Jontay Porter may not be healthy enough to play when the season returns at the end of July, but even if he is, the Memphis Grizzlies have multiple healthy big men above him in the depth chart.
