The NBA is getting set to return to action on July 30th at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. With the NBA attempting to return normally, some players are still deciding whether or not to play with everything going on. One player who has already decided he will sit out is Avery Bradley of the Los Angeles Lakers. Avery Bradley has been the Lakers’ starter at the point guard position, but he has opted to stay with his family during the time the NBA will return in Orlando.

JR Smith is the first name that has come out as an option to replace Avery Bradley in the Lakers’ rotation. Smith has not played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Smith would bring a jolt of energy off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers as well as playoff experience. JR Smith worked out for the Lakers earlier this season when LA opted to sign Dion Waiters instead.
Tyler Johnson, who was previously with the Phoenix Suns, is signing with the Brooklyn Nets for the remainder of the 2020 NBA season. Tyler Johnson signed a $50 million offer sheet back in 2016 with the Brooklyn Nets that was matched by the Miami Heat. Tyler Johnson is not the same productive player he was back in 2016, but he can still add depth to a team looking for an extra guard like the Brooklyn Nets. At 27 years old, Johnson is still in the prime of his career and will look to revitalize his career in Brooklyn.

The Houston Rockets are signing David Nwaba to a two-year contract during the NBA’s transaction window that is currently in place. Nwaba was an elite defensive wing when he was with the Chicago Bulls during the 2017-18 NBA season, but he has since faced multiple injuries, including a torn achilles that has sidelined him for the rest of this season. The interesting thing about Houston signing Nwaba is that he will not be available to play for the Rockets until next season due to that torn achilles tendon.
