The NBA Draft is over and teams are turning their complete attention to the start of free agency on July 1st. Several teams have plenty of cap space with the increased salary cap, and many players are set to get paid big money this offseason. With the start of free agency just days away, the NBA rumor mill is starting to crank up. Check out the latest NBA news and rumors below.
Whiteside Wants Decision Early?
Most players and teams are expected to wait until after Kevin Durant makes his decision to make moves. Center Hassan Whiteside is not among them.
"July 1, hopefully, I'll know," Whiteside said. "I hope it's an easy decision to make."
Whiteside has a long list of suitors, including the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. The Heat can offer Whiteside the most money, but Whiteside said his decision won't be about loyalty, but rather about his best fit for him.
Taj Gibson Trade?
The Chicago Bulls have already traded Derrick Rose, and power forward Taj Gibson could be next. In a piece about the Bulls likely losing Joakim Noah, the Chicago Sun-Times reveals Gibson could be traded.
To add some further clouds to the Bulls frontcourt rotation, a league source said that the Bulls have been talking to several teams about the possibility of moving Taj Gibson. The power forward is in the final year of his contract, scheduled to make $8.9 million.
The Bulls would then have Nikola Mirotic, Bobby Portis and Robin Lopez leading the way in the front court. It's unclear what teams the Bulls have spoken with about a Gibson trade, or what they'd get back.
More Teams Interested In Horford?
Teams like the Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons have all been linked to Al Horford already, and they aren't the only teams interested in signing Al Horford.
Heard today Wizards/Celtics/Heat also expected to be in mix for Horford. #Twolves likely call. But won't get him. https://t.co/4Jt06QC6jp

The Heat would likely replace Whiteside with Horford, while the Wizards might have to move Marcin Gortat to make room for Horford. The Celtics have a need in the post, making Horford an obvious target.
