The Dallas Mavericks could be looking to add a defensive wing from the 2020 NBA free agency class as an upgrade, since their only forwards under contract are Dorian Finney-Smith, Justin Jackson and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. One player who could make some sense for the Mavericks could be Otto Porter Jr. of the Chicago Bulls. Otto Porter Jr. is only 26 years old, is a good defender and offensive threat. Porter could prove himself to be a building block for the future along with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis if the Mavs can sign him.
Jae Crowder, a former Dallas Maverick, was traded to the Miami Heat at the NBA trade deadline this season, but he will be entering unrestricted free agency this summer. Jae Crowder was a fan favorite in Dallas thanks to his defensive output and high-energy play off the bench. Rick Carlisle and the Mavs could benefit from bringing him back in free agency this summer as a wing off the bench.

Malik Beasley was traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the NBA trade deadline, but Beasley is set to become a restricted free agent this summer. Beasley is a good defensive shooting guard that can score at a good rate, but he is a bit undersized to guard small forwards. Beasley could be a good replacement option for the Mavericks if Tim Hardaway Jr. decides to sign elsewhere this summer.
The Dallas Mavericks showed plenty of interest in Moe Harkless before the trade deadline this year, but he was never bought out by the New York Knicks as many expected him to be. Harkless has proven himself as a capable defender of both small forwards and power forwards in this league. He has always been a good 3-point shooter, and could help the Mavericks in multiple ways if they get a chance to sign him this summer.

Justin Holiday signed a one-year deal with the Indiana Pacers this summer, which gave him a chance to prove himself. Holiday has stepped up as an above-average 3-&-D player for the Pacers and will look to sign a bigger deal as a free agent this summer. Another aspect of signing Holiday to a deal is the fact that his older brother, Jrue Holiday, will hit the open market in 2021 and could be a perfect addition for the Dallas Mavericks if they can lure him away from the New Orleans Pelicans. Both Holiday brothers would become immediate upgrades defensively for the Mavs.
2020 NBA Free Agents Discussed:
Otto Porter Jr.
Jae Crowder
Malik Beasley
Moe Harkless
Justin Holiday
