According to Stephen A. Smith - the analyst who called LeBron's first decision days before anyone else - Kevin Durant would only leave the Thunder for one team: the Washington Wizards.
Stephen A. might not have the same kind of credibility as Adrian Wojnarowski, but he's been on point when it comes to predicting big free agency moves. He also said in July 2013 that LeBron's only real option other than Miami was Cleveland, calling it '50-50'.
"...there are folks that I’ve spoken to that are relatively close to Kevin Durant that tell me if he were to decide to leave Oklahoma City, it would be for the nation’s capital," Smith told ESPN 980's Inside the Locker Room. "That’s the kind of dude he is. That’s a place that he would consider."
“I certainly don’t want to sit here as a reporter and insider and try to give indications that he’s planning on leaving Oklahoma City,” Smith said. “I don’t know that to be sure. I don’t know that to be the case. But I was told that if there is a team that would be strongly considered, it is the Washington Wizards, and him returning home.”
Durant's decision is still a ways off, and it's important to remember that there's no concrete, definitive information behind this. Still, Smith has been the only ESPN talking head to correctly predict the biggest NBA moves in recent memory...so what he says can't just be written off.
