Zach Abey is a humble, unassuming type of person so he’s not so sure about being assigned a special moniker in recognition of his new role as a wide receiver and quarterback.
When Kordell Stewart played multiple positions for the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was known as Slash — as in quarterback/wide receiver/running back.
“Slash? Sure, I’ll take that nickname. I like it,” Abey said somewhat sheepishly when it was suggested.
Slash might not stick, but there is no question Abey has become the Swiss Army knife for the Navy football team – a multi-talented offensive weapon who can do it all.
