Witch’s Flower became well known on the Chesapeake Bay and beyond during the two decades it was campaigned by standout sailor John Sherwood.
Sherwood had the boat custom-built by Metalmast Marine (Putnam, Connecticut) for the express purpose of competing in Midget Ocean Racing Club (MORC) regattas. He collected a ton of hardware while racing the Metalmast 30 and grew to truly love the boat.
“It was a very successful MORC boat,” said Sherwood, who captured Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association High Point honors for MORC class numerous times. “I had Metalmast include a few innovations so it would oriented to the MORC rule.
