On a night when four freshmen started for the Mids, the Navy women's soccer team relied on a couple of its most accomplished players to save the day.
Senior captain Lexi Ricketts scored in the final minute of the first half, and sophomore Meghan Hegarty's goal in the 84th minute was the game-winner in Navy's a 2-1 victory over visiting Virginia Military Institute on Friday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.
Coming off a 2-0 loss to Maryland on Sunday, a Navy victory figured to follow. Navy is now 7-1-1 all-time after losing to Maryland and 6-0 when playing in Annapolis the next game.
