Gilman defensive back Rayuan Lane changed his athletic focus to football this year and now he hopes his athletic versatility eventually makes him a focal point for the Naval Academy’s defense.
Lane, who agreed Dec. 4 to attend the Naval Academy, played a variety of positions for the Greyhounds and seems like a natural fit for the Mids’ defensive scheme.
The Gilman senior excelled in a variety of roles for the Greyhounds’ defense during the abbreviated 2020 season and also led the team at running back and on special teams.
Lane said he was enthralled with what the Annapolis-based service academy had to offer, but he asked himself a number of questions before committing to Navy.
