Two with Annapolis connections to compete in Paralympics

Two athletes with Annapolis connections will be competing in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Opening ceremonies for the games take place on Wednesday.

The Paralympics bring together physically challenged athletes from across the globe for two weeks to compete in 23 events from archery and judo to wheelchair basketball, fencing, rugby and tennis. They will even strive for gold in boccia. Eleven others from Maryland will also compete.

U.S. Naval Academy graduate Brad Snyder, who was blinded in an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2011, will plunge into the pool, swimming in several events.
