It's not easy to follow in the footsteps of a popular and successful coach.
Mike Norvell faced the challenge of replacing Justin Fuente, who completely transformed the Memphis football program during a four-year tenure as head coach.
Fuente left for Virginia Tech after leading Memphis to 19 victories over the last two seasons. Norvell was announced as head coach on Dec. 4, 2015 and was immediately put in the position of having to prove himself to players who had achieved success under a different staff.
"Any time you come into this type of situation, you have to develop trust," Norvell said.
