Terps study depth of lacrosse title shortfalls

There is a good and bad news aspect to the postseason success Maryland men's lacrosse has enjoyed since John Tillman became head coach in 2011.

The Terrapins have reached the national semifinals in four of five seasons under Tillman, an assistant at Navy from 1996 through 2007. More impressive, Maryland have advanced to the final three times during Tillman's tenure.

On the down side, the Terps have not been able to get over the hump and claim the national crown. Former coach Buddy Beardmore's recent death was a reminder that Maryland has not captured a national championship since he led the Terps.
