Navy made an unexpected change at quarterback and the results were mixed.
Head coach Ken Niumatalolo said earlier in the week he was sticking with Malcolm Perry at quarterback in the wake of a disastrous offensive performance against Air Force. Niumatalolo was either masking his true intentions or changed his mind later in the week.
Garret Lewis wound up making his second career start at quarterback while Perry lined up at slotback when the Navy offense took the field for the first time against Temple on Saturday.
Lewis did an outstanding job of directing the triple-option and distributing the ball as the Midshipmen showed far more balance than they have for most of this season during the first half.
