Navy's football season got off to an inauspicious start.
After winning the coin toss and electing to receive, the Midshipmen had a disaster of an opening series.
Fullback Chris Swain was thrown for a 5-yard loss on first down while slotback Demond Brown rushed for no gain on second. Swain then committed a costly holding penalty that negated a 14-yard completion to slotback Dishan Romine.
Things only got worse for Swain, who was hit from behind and fumbled while fighting for extra yardage on third down. That gave underdog Colgate a short field and had head coach Ken Niumatalolo fuming on the sideline.
