Competition in the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta got underway Saturday in strong winds and steady rains.

Racers in eight classes were pelted with consistent rain, at some points quite hard, brought from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. On the bright side, the front also brought 18-knot winds, which made for an exhausting day on the Chesapeake Bay.

Five one-design classes conducted windward-leeward racing around the buoys with John White (Pain in the Neck) winning all three races in J/105 and Bob Rutsch (Bebop) doing the same in J/30.

Cal 25 was the lone one-design class to join the three handicapped classes in a pursuit start race around government marks.
