JACKSONVILLE – So much for the well-crafted game-plan of the appointed option guru.
In previewing the Navy-Notre Dame game, we detailed the duties of one Bob Elliott, who was named special assistant to the head coach in 2015. One of Elliott's primary jobs was to study the triple-option and come up with ideas for how to stop it.
Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly discussed that topic in detail last week, noting that Elliott had reviewed the schemes of teams that had success against triple-option schools such as Army, Navy and Georgia Tech.
