A unique, one-of-a-kind event came to Annapolis on Saturday night. Speaking from the perspective of a reporter who has covered events in this town for three decades, I would say without hesitation it qualified as historic.
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium hosted the 2018 edition of the Coors Light NHL Stadium Series and it would not be an overstatement to say the atmosphere was absolutely spectacular.
This sportswriter is not so jaded after all these years to have lost all sense of excitement over something that is clearly rare and special. I would say this Stadium Series contest between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs, set inside a stadium where I have covered Navy football and lacrosse throughout my career ranks as one of the neatest experiences I’ve had.
