DALLAS, TEXAS – Quarterback Ben Hicks came off the bench to throw a touchdown pass and two-point conversion as SMU stunned Navy, 31-30, in overtime at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Hicks did not start the game, but he certainly finished it in style. Head coach Sonny Dykes went with true freshman William Brown at quarterback for four quarters, but when the contest was on the line he turned to his returning starter from last season.
Hicks hit wide receiver James Proche on a fade route with the standout wide receiver jumping over Navy cornerback Jarid Ryan to make the grab.
