Buddy Green has been steadfast that he intended to rejoin the Navy coachng staff afer taking a sabbatical this season due to health reasons.
However, the reality of his physical conditon caused Green to reconsider and on Tuesday the college football lifer announced his retirement from coaching.
Green spent 37 years as a collegiate head coach, beginning in 1979 as a graduate assistant at his alma mater N.C. State. The North Carolina native spent 14 seasons at the Naval Academy, coming aboard as defensive coordinator after Paul Johnson was hired as head coach in 2002.
"It's been a wonderful run.
