During his keynote speech at Naval Academy graduation, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds and fullback Chris Swain can defer their military service to play in the NFL.
Though it had seemed for weeks that would be the decision, Carter chose the graduation speech to make the official announcement.
Reynolds, who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens, made a splash at quarterback during his time at Navy, where he set the NCAA career touchdown record while leading Navy’s triple-option offense. With Reynolds’ considerable speed a strength during his college career, the Ravens took him with the intent to convert him into a receiver and kick returner.
