There was a time this past August when Anthony Garguilo wasn’t sure he wanted to be at the Naval Academy. Football wasn’t going the way Garguilo wanted and he was having second thoughts about the military commitment.
Prior to junior year, midshipmen must sign binding paperwork to serve five years of active duty following graduation. Garguilo agonized over whether to take that oath of allegiance to the academy or simply transfer.
“I think Anthony had some questions coming into the year as far as signing the two-for-seven papers. I think he was asking himself ‘Is this really what I want to do?
