Navy’s depth chart looks dramatically different on May 3 than it did on March 15 before the start of spring football practice.
One of the most notable changes comes at quarterback where Tai Lavatai closed the gap on classmate Xavier Arline, as those two plebes are now listed even atop the depth chart. Current sophomore Maasai Maynor emerged from spring drills as the No. 3 signal caller.
Navy offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ivin Jasper had praised the spring performance of Lavatai, who is a much bigger quarterback than Arline. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Florida resident was impressive passing the ball throughout the spring, showing a strong, accurate arm.
