Charles Patterson was disappointed with the way he fought in the Brigade Boxing tournament as a plebe. Patterson allowed his opponent to dictate the style of fight and wound up losing in the semifinals.
Patterson vowed to never let that happen again. It didn’t and the Hawaii native is now a three-time Brigade Boxing champion because he learned how to impose his will in the ring.
Patterson earned that distinction in impressive fashion in Friday night’s finals before a raucous crowd of almost 4,000 at Alumni Hall, registering a technical knockout of junior Joey Resendez in the heavyweight bout.
