Navy starting safety Kwazel Betrand is likely out for the season after suffering a broken ankle against Air Force on Saturday, coach Ken Niumatalolo confirmed on Tuesday.
Bertrand underwent surgery on the ankle this week and it is unlikely the senior could return in time for Army or a possible bowl game.
"I feel terrible for Kwazel. It's really unfortunate any time a senior goes down with a season-ending injury," Niumatalolo said. "Kwazel has been a really good player for us and we're going to miss his presence out on the field."
Bertrand played arguably the best game of his career against Air Force, coming up with two fumble recoveries while also assisting on two goal-line tackles.
