WEST POINT, N.Y. — There’s been a lot of 3-point buzz with Navy women’s basketball of late but the Midshipmen showed they don’t necessarily need the long ball to win big.
Army did a good job defending the arc in the Star Game clash on Saturday so Navy took the ball into the paint and showed it can hit the mid-range shots, too. The Midshipmen shot just over 50 percent from inside the arc, and 45.3 percent overall, as they pulled away from the Black Knights for a 55-46 win before 3,000 fans. It was Navy’s third consecutive win at Christl Arena and fifth overall over Army.
