NEWPORT, R.I. — Navy football has found itself stuck in the neutral when it comes to the American Athletic Conference predictions.
Among the media that votes in the preseason poll, Navy is always considered a solid contender, but not quite strong enough to warrant favorite status.
For the second straight season and third time in four years in the AAC, Navy was picked to place third in the West Division in the annual preseason poll. Memphis was an overwhelming favorite to win the West, receiving 23 of 30 first place votes in the poll that was released on Tuesday during the American Athletic Conference football media day.
