Standing on Rip Miller Field following practice on Tuesday, coach Rick Sowell said the Navy men's lacrosse team belonged in the NCAA Tournament. The Midshipmen built a solid case en route to capturing the Patriot League regular season championship, but stumbled in the postseason.
An upset loss to archrival Army in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament ended Navy's hopes of earning an automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs and put its fate in the hands of the selection committee.
Nonetheless, Sowell thought his club had done enough to warrant an at-large berth.
