When Billy Honaker contemplated that he would be playing left guard for Navy against archrival Army, an idea began to crystallize in his mind.
Naturally, Honaker’s mind immediately went to last year at this time when David Forney put forth a typically dominating performance during the Army-Navy game.
Forney started all 13 games at left guard last season and was named first team All-American Athletic Conference after anchoring an offensive line that paved the way for Navy to lead the nation in rushing with an average of 360.5 yards per game.
Forney, a three-year letterman who played in 39 straight games over his final three seasons, died of cardiac arrest Feb.
