Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo knew one week was not enough time to install and practice an offensive game plan for Army.
Niumatalolo had to devise a strategy in case the Midshipmen made the American Athletic Conference championship game and had to come back seven days later and face the archrival. The ninth-year head coach recently revealed that he devoted one practice period each week toward the Black Knights.
"Army period" was held every Tuesday and throughout the season with the hope it would help Navy prepare for the biggest game of the season.
