HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Navy men's basketball team (1-3) came up just short at High Point (3-1), 69-62, in the second day of the HPU Tournament in the Millis Center on Saturday.
"Our kids competed and played hard," said Navy head coach Ed DeChellis. "We didn't play poorly. But we did make some foolish turnovers and we couldn't get to the free throw line."
Navy led by as many as 11 points in the game, but the Panthers used a 9-0 run late in the second half to take control of the contest. Then, in the last two minutes of the game, Navy missed its final four field goals, all of which were 3-pointers, and also had one turnover as its comeback attempt was stunted.
