Navy Key: Control the ball, chew up the clock
It’s hard to envision the Navy pass defense holding up against big-time quarterback Riley Ferguson and his posse of talented wide receivers. The Midshipmen have committed to playing man-to-man pass defense this season and results have been mixed. Cincinnati’s Kellen Moore picked apart Navy while Air Force’s Arion Worthman hit several long pass plays, and neither is anywhere near the caliber of quarterback as Ferguson. Navy cornerbacks Elijah Merchant and Tyris Wooten will have their hands full trying to contain wide receiver Anthony Miller, who is Ferguson’s favorite target and showed last week how prolific he can be with 15 catches for 224 yards and four touchdowns.
