Brady Dove entered Saturday's game against Loyola needing 10 faceoff wins to become Navy's all-time leader in that category. The Stevensville resident almost accomplished the feat in the first half, winning 9 of 11 draws to tie the mark set by 2004 graduate Chris Pieczonka.
Dove became Navy's career record holder at the start of the third quarter after short stick defensive midfielder John Trainor chased down the loose ball off a scrum. The Kent Island High graduate has captured 367 faceoffs, four more than Pieczonka.
