When it was over, all the Navy players threw their sticks in the air and raced to the corner of the field to mob goalkeeper John Connors.
It was the only logical response after Connors took over in the second half and spearheaded a stunning upset of fourth-seeded Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Connors made eight of his 12 saves in the second half to anchor a strong defensive effort that lifted Navy to a 13-10 victory over host Yale before a standing-room-only crowd of 3,526 at Reese Stadium.
Connors has been a solid three-year starter for the Midshipmen, but has rarely authored the type of difference-making performance he did on Sunday.
