On a day that its defense reverted to its 2016 form, Navy needed every one of its 622 yards of offense to escape with a tougher-than-expected American Athletic Conference victory over Cincinnati.
Sophomore Malcolm Perry led the way with 100 rushing yards as the slotbacks did most of the damage in leading the Mids past the Bearcats, 42-32, in a shootout in front of 33,134 fans at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
“I’m really proud of our guys. Great win. Sometimes when you have wins like this I wonder why I got into this profession. It’s a little tough on the heart,” Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo said.
