President Barack Obama took office in January 2009 and during the spring of that year presented the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy for the first time — to the Naval Academy football team.
After serving two terms in the Oval Office, Obama presided over the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy ceremony for the last time. Once again, Navy was the recipient.
"I am the eighth president to award this trophy, and this is the eighth and final time I will do it," Obama said. "And what better way than by honoring this historic Naval Academy team? This squad wasn't just the best service academy on the gridiron this year; it was one of the best teams in America.
